Kathleen grew up on a farm near Semans, Saskatchewan and obtained a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Manitoba in 1990. She graduated with Distinction from the College of Law at the University of Saskatchewan in 1996 and was called to the Manitoba Bar in 1997 after articling at Thompson Dorfman Sweatman in Winnipeg.
After returning to Saskatchewan, Kathleen practiced in rural Saskatchewan for a year before moving to Regina. Her practice has focused primarily on family law for most of her career. She was one of the first group of lawyers in Saskatchewan trained in collaborative law. She has also received mediation and parenting co-ordination training. Kathleen also has extensive courtroom experience and has appeared in all levels of court in Saskatchewan. Kathleen joined Gerrand Rath Johnson in April of 2016 after a short break from practice. Prior to joining Gerrand Rath Johnson, Kathleen was a founding partner at Hunter Peterson Deagle LLP.
Kathleen has been a volunteer evaluator and learning group facilitator with the Bar course in Saskatchewan for several years and has been on the Board of Governors of the Saskatchewan Trial Lawyers Association. She was one of the original volunteers for the Pro Bono legal clinic in Regina. Kathleen is a member of the Canadian Bar Association and has been president of the Family Law South section. Kathleen has presented papers at Continuing Legal Education conferences on family law issues, and was the chair of the Saskatchewan Trial Lawyers Association Family Law Conference in 2015.
In her spare time, Kathleen travels and takes photographs.
