Matthew is currently engaged as an article student with Gerrand Rath Johnson.

Matthew joins Gerrand Rath Johnson after completing a Juris Doctor at the University of Saskatchewan, where he previously received a Bachelor of Commerce (with High Honours and Great Distinction) majoring in Operations Management.

At law school Matthew was the founding president of the University of Saskatchewan Labour and Employment Law Club; competed on behalf of Saskatchewan in the 2023 Canadian National Negotiation Competition at McGill University; and worked in the community during his final year at the Community Legal Assistance Services for Saskatoon Inner City (CLASSIC), which provides free criminal and civil legal service and support for those who experience poverty and injustice.

During his time at CLASSIC, Matthew appeared before the Provincial Court on criminal matters, as well as at Traffic Court and the Office of Residential Tenancies on behalf of clients. Additionally, while engaged in previous summer employment, Matthew attended arbitration and mediation hearings on labour matters accompanying counsel. Matthew grew up in Calgary, Alberta, and has lived in Saskatchewan for more than a decade, along with his wife and son. During that time, Matthew was actively involved in community leadership, having had the privilege to volunteer and serve the greater Saskatoon community, and is looking forward to being involved in a similar capacity in Regina.
