Opening for Business Manager

GRJ is seeking to hire a Business Manager to support our firm as we evolve and grow. This is a full-time, permanent, managerial position based in Regina, Saskatchewan.
Job Overview
The Business Manager will be responsible for business operations of GRJ. As a self- motivated leader in our team, the Business Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations of the business aspects of the firm independently and will also work with the Partnership to develop strategic business initiatives.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
Financial Responsibilities:
Manage day to day financial transactions including payables, receivables, bank reconciliations, trust fund management, GST and PST remittances, daily deposits, monthly financial reporting and year end reporting and record keeping in compliance with the Law Society of Saskatchewan requirements.
Work with accountants to complete audit reviews and ensure ongoing monthly and annual financial compliance.
Human Resources Responsibilities:
Oversee all human resources matters in consultation with Human Resources Committee, including:
Support positive firm organizational culture.
Supervise non-lawyer staff including hiring, training, performance reviews.
Administer payroll.
Make recommendations to management on staff compensation and other strategic human resources initiatives.
Assist in firmwide policy development and enforcement.
Operational Responsibilities:
Manage day-to-day office functions to ensure operations run smoothly at the firm.
Engage with suppliers to order office supplies and other purchases as required.
Ensure compliance with Law Society obligations and other applicable regulatory requirements.
Strategic Planning:
Liaise with partnership and partnership committees to advance the firm’s business practices, organizational culture and efficiencies.
Firm Promotion and Events:
Coordinate internal firm events, including the Christmas party, summer barbeque, and other internal celebrations and events.
Coordinate marketing events, including annual conference.
Manage firm website in collaboration with IT Support.
Manage social media accounts, including firm promotion through social media.
Qualifications
Education:
Degree or other education relevant to the position considered an asset.
CPHR designation or interest in pursuing the same considered an asset.
Experience:
Experience working in an office setting.
Experience in project management.
Leadership experience is an asset.
Accounting background is an asset.
Skills:
Ability to take initiative and lead projects.
Excellent communication skills and emotional intelligence.
Ability to manage a fast-paced work environment.
Attention to detail.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Work Environment
Office-based
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30 to 5:00 with flexibility
Travel Requirements: none
