Russell began his legal career with the provincial government, where he advised the government on issues related to agriculture, health, social services, construction, fisheries and wildlife, forestry, municipal government, and Treaty Land Entitlement. In 1982, he joined the firm, and has been a partner since 1984.
Committed to high ethical standards for lawyers, Mr. Hart served as a member of a Professional Standards Committee of the Law Society of Saskatchewan and has lectured on Media Law at the University of Regina, School of Journalism.
An expert on media law, Russ has presented to the Canadian Association of Journalism, the Saskatchewan Trial Lawyers Association, the Saskatchewan Legal Education Society and the RCMP training Academy. He has also presented on Wills for the Continuing Legal Professional Development program of the Law Society of Saskatchewan.
Russ is member of the Canadian Bar Association and is active in its Business and Wills and Real Property Sections. He is past CBA representative to the Queen's Bench Bar Judicial Council and to the Court of Appeal Bar Judicial Council. He is also a member of Ad Idem (Advocates in Defence of Freedom of Expression in the Media).
Mr. Hart also makes time to serve the larger community by serving as Director of the Phoenix Residential Society (Past President) and as President of the Saskatchewan Rowing Association.
Mr. Hart is married, and he and his wife have three children. He values the time he spends with his family at the cottage, sailing, and skiing.
