Thomas studied at the University of Saskatchewan, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in 2012 and a Juris Doctor in 2015. He joined Gerrand Rath Johnson as an articling student and now works as an associate lawyer after being called to the bar in 2016. Thomas carries on a litigation practice with a focus on criminal defence work.
Thomas regularly appears in court, representing clients in bail hearings, preliminary inquiries, trials, and sentencing hearings. He is passionate about protecting individuals’ rights and defends people accused of a wide range of criminal offences. Thomas works hard to explain his clients’ cases in an understandable way so that his clients can make informed decisions about what to do. He often uses flat fee retainers so that his clients understand the legal fees up front, and he is open to payment plans for clients that are on a budget.
Thomas also handles criminal appeals. He has worked on a number of cases that have gone to the Saskatchewan Court of Appeal and was part of a successful appeal to the Supreme Court of Canada. While based in Regina, Thomas travels to court points across Saskatchewan to help his clients, and has appeared in the Provincial Court of Alberta under the National Mobility Agreement.
He is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, the Regina Bar Association, and the Saskatchewan Trial Lawyers Association.
