Thomas attended the University of Saskatchewan, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in 2012 and a Juris Doctor in 2015. He joined Gerrand Rath Johnson as an articling student in 2015 and continued on as an associate lawyer after being called to the bar in 2016. Thomas carries on a litigation practice with a focus on criminal defence work. He is passionate about protecting individual’s rights and defends people accused of a wide range of criminal offences.
While in law school, Thomas volunteered with Saskatoon’s community legal clinic CLASSIC, providing representation to low-income individuals facing criminal charges. He worked as a summer student at the Saskatchewan Ministry of Justice Public Prosecutions Division in Regina, where he learned about real-world criminal procedure by working with Crown Prosecutors. He also completed an Intensive Criminal Law Practicum in his final year of study, which involved working with criminal defence lawyers at a small law firm in Saskatoon for a full semester. Thomas has appeared in Provincial Court points across Saskatchewan and has contributed to criminal and civil cases at all level of Court in Saskatchewan.
Thomas is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, the Regina Bar Association, and the Saskatchewan Trial Lawyers Association.
Outside of law, Thomas enjoys playing a variety of sports, board games, and trivia.
